Sony Ericsson steps towards success in Q3

Sony Ericsson which seems to be very calm and subtle is climbing the ladder of success slowly and gradually during the last few quarters. The third quarter of the current year did not prove good for many others as we witness a decline in most of the main stats year-over-year (YoY) but the Sony Ericsson did very well in it. It shows betterment and improvement in its performance from the second quarter of the year.
The company is emerging from the jolt of the earthquake which played havoc not only in Japan but also affected the sales of the company severely. The press release unveils very interesting information that the net income is 0. Income before taxes was €31 million but none of that made it to the company’s capital.
The units shipped year over year was slits to 9.5 million as compared to10.4 million in Q3 2010. But the sales shows much nearer figures which are €1.586 billion compared to €1.603 billion.
This resulted due to increased shipments of Xperia phones which made up 80% of the total shipments. This inclined the average of selling price up to €166. The Xperia Phones which are now shipped till date are 22 million in number.
Bert Nordberg CEO of Sony Ericsson, come up with a very appealing revelation, he stated that the company will be focusing entirely and exclusively on smartphones in the next year. Any OS was not overt through its words but little murmurings say that it can join the Windows Phone 7 squad.
