Rumor: Google Drive is coming this April
We know very little about Google Drive since it blushed for the first time in 2006 and then in 2007 but thanks to Giga OM now we are quite familiar with the service. Google Drive is Google’s online storage service which is said to launch in the first week of April. Drive brings 1GB of free storage for users, with an expandable storage if they are willing to pay. Box.net, DropBox – sort of like that.

Google Drive will come with local client and its web interface may look alike the Google Docs interface. What makes this online storage service special is that it comes with API support. This will give way of storing other apps in a user’s Google Drive account and will be available for Google Apps customers.
With Google Drive, the competition in cloud storage market will definitely get fierce. The API inclusion in Google’s service is good but we are still wondering if it will let users ditch their services —not to forget that Google offers just 1GB of storage for free (as rumored till date) while the market leader Dropbox offers 2 Gb for free.
