App of the Day: iPhoto for iPhone and iPad
Apple released a slew of great apps for its new iPad just after few days of its launch and iPhoto is one of them. The app as its name indicates is developed for photographers and is claimed as one of the best if not the best photo editing apps in apps town. The iPhoto became extremely popular within a short span of time and has competed one million downloads in just 10 days (seems that it will cross all the success barriers set by Draw something free). Do you think any other app deserves to get the title of App of the Day? We don’t think so either. So let’s welcome the mind-boggling photo editing app, iPhoto as our App of the Day.

Much has been said in praise of iPhoto and why not, it deserves every word of it. iPhoto works as an easy-to-use photo editor which is bundled with professional-quality effects, brushes, image modifying tools—thus everything that you can expect from a high-class picture editing app. The sale figure speaks itself about the popularity of the app.

iPhoto has got an amazing interface which makes the interaction easy on the tablet’s 9.7-inch display. As you launch your iPhoto on iPad, you will find four main tabs to access Albums, Photos, Events, and Journals. It comes with fabulous editing features which offers a smooth editing experience. The Crop & Straighten feature enables you to use pinch/rotate gestures, moving the gyro left/right to tilt the iPad and take the shot as you like. The Exposure feature will let you modify various things like shadows, contrast, highlights, and brightness while the Color feature acts almost like the Exposure feature. If you want to give your image an artsy look, use Effects feature; the main effects it brings are Warm & Cool, Duotone, Black & White, Aura, Vintage, and Artistic.

The brushes of iPhoto lets you use up to 8 brushes including Repair, Red Eye, Saturate, Desaturate, Lighten, Darken, Sharpen, and Soften. Apart from that if you want to view all the events, the Event tab will fulfill your desire.
Now after you have done editing, obviously you want something like an album to keep a track of your pics, don’t you? That’s why Apple has introduced Journal Tab in iPhoto which allow you to share stories in a beautiful photo journals. The pictures you select will be arranged in mosaic, so that you can enjoy a lovely storybook of your memories.

With all these alluring features the downside of iPhoto is, it lacks cropping or multiple layers features which makes it different from the professional image editing tools.
