Jun 20 Omega, CyanogenMod 9 & AOKP Custom ROM for Galaxy S3

People are going crazy for the new Galaxy S3 and those who have already got the handset must be curious to play with it. As long as there are eager souls living on the planet ROMs won’t stop coming. If you remember Samsung Galaxy S3 was rooted before it was launched- credit to chainfire for his awesome work. XDA members have developed many ROMs to whet your appetite. Here are some of the famous ROMs for S3 along the procedure of flashing them on your phone. Also note that flashing a ROM will void your warranty and we take no responsibility of your actions. Omega Custom ROM

Omega ROM is based on the XXALF2 Android 4.0.4 Official update, it is Deodexed, Rooted and Zipaligned but not  full wiped. The Omega ROM is safe, stable and fast. It  will bring various improvements in your device and enhances your battery performance. Omega ROM is one of the best stock-like ROM which brings many software improvements over Samsung’s stock ROM. CyanogenMod 9

CyanogenMod needs no introduction. It is an extremely famous ROM which has been released for Samsung Galaxy S3 as an initial build. So those of you who want to enjoy vanilla flavor of Android rather than Samsung’s customized UI, you can check out the official CyanogenMod 9 nightly build process. Hats off to XDA member XpLoDWilD for adding the GS3 in CyanogenMod 9 supported devices. The initial build is stable and functional but the official stable version of CyanogenMod 9 will be out soon. Some problems found in this build are

• FM Radio: currently not supported, try Spirit FM from market
• Using flash in camera causes problems
• LED is not being lit when charging

AOKP

Android Open Kang Project (AOKP) is the second most popular ROM for Android  devices. Samsung  Galaxy S3 owners waiting for this ROM should be pleased to know that AOKP now supports Samsung Galaxy S3. It is based on Android 4.0.4, brings some improvements but has same problems as seen in CyanogenMod 9 ROM. This ROM is contributed by XDA member Faryaab who is famous for his F1 Roms.
