Sony brings WebGL support to 2011 smartphone lineup (video)

If you think Sony is lost in dust after being out of news for some days then it has come to the limelight now, by announcing a surprise for Xperia owners. Back from August, Sony Ericsson has rolled out its software update to Xperia phones in form of Gingerbread refresh. The update came along with other treats, like Facebook integration and 3D sweep panorama mode. The manufacturer has now released good news for its customers as it embraces WebGL support to its Xperia lineup. For those who don’t know about the WebGL, let me tell you that WebGL balloons the capability of JavaScript programming language and make the interactive 3D graphics works within the web browser. This support can be grabbed on all the recent smartphones by the handset maker. So if you have got the Xperia Arc, Mini, Neo, Play, Ray or other latest devices in your hands then you can experience the advanced visuals and gaming to the web, provided that your phone will be running on the Android 2.3.4. By including this WebGL support to the Xperia array, Sony has become the first mobile phone manufacturer to support WebGL for the Android web browser. WebGL efforts were previewed by company in February for the first time. Now it has made it official after almost nine months. Well the initiative is lovable for sure. Enjoy the addition by watching the video below and wait for the Ice Cream Sandwich to hit your devices soon.
